We were pleased to announce that in 2016 we were supporting:

KYDS is a free counselling service for 12 to 18 years old young people and their families living on the North Shore of Sydney.

KYDS has been a recipient of funding from the Novus Foundation for several years.

Most recently, these funds have contributed greatly to KYDS' ability to provide mental health support services (both individual responsive and early intervention group work) to previously underserved groups, and assisted the expansion of KYDS outreach programs into schools.

StreetWork helps change the lives of at-risk disadvantaged youth in Sydney’s Upper north Shore and Northern Beaches. The aim is to break the sad cycle of crime, vandalism, violence, destructive family relationships, rejection and isolation, learning difficulties, poor employment opportunities and substance abuse.

StreetWork exists to assist these young people who often come from broken and dysfunctional homes and help them reclaim their lives for a positive future.

    Open Heart International

Coordinated by Sydney Adventist Hospital, Open Heart International was established in 1985 to provide volunteer medical, nursing and allied health professionals for medical and surgical projects in developing countries, where men, women and children otherwise have restricted or no access to medical treatment.

Today, hundreds of volunteers with extraordinary passion and commitment give freely of their time and expertise in multiple surgical specialties to provide hope to thousands living in developing countries. These patients dream of the quality healthcare that we sometimes take for granted here in Australia.

    Rotary Club of Wahroonga

The Rotary Club of Wahroonga has over 65 active members and meets every Wednesday morning for breakfast to actively pursue community service projects together.

The club currently supports 16 youth related projects in the local community and also internationally. The focus ranges from leadership development program, camps for disabled children, to international exchange programs.

Novus’ funds will be used to support a number of the existing youth projects already underway within the club.

  • The Foundation Members and Executive

The Novus Foundation was formed in 2006, a collaboration between the Rotary Club of Wahroonga, The San Foundation and The McCarroll Automotive Group.

These organisations originally came together with the intention of developing and supporting projects directed at the welfare of youth in the District of Hornsby and Ku-ring-gai.

Since then the Novus Foundation has raised over $1.25 million for a variety of different organisations that are investing in our youth.

In creating the Novus Foundation, the board has determined that it will concentrate on matters which impact young people and their ability to perform to their natural level of capability. By doing this, we want to ensure that the next generation of young adults can take their place in society using their technical and leadership skills to the full, not limited by ill health, lack of training or shortage of opportunity.

Each year it is our hope that, supported by members of the community on Sydney’s North Shore and further afield, we can continue to raise funds to support organisations that are strengthening our younger generation.

The Rotary Club of Wahroonga is a member of the Worldwide Association of Rotary Clubs--part of an international network of business, professional and community leaders who strive to make the world a better place through practical efforts.

Our Global organisation boasts 33000 Rotary Clubs and 1.2 million Rotarians who support displaced and under privileged communities in over 200 countries—which unites men and women from different backgrounds, cultures, religious and political beliefs the world over, allowing ordinary people to do extraordinary things.

Wahroonga Rotary has over 60 members and meet every Wednesday morning at 7.15am for breakfast at the Warrawee Bowling Club. Our Club supports many local organisations particularly focussed, but not exclusively, on worthy Youth Projects such as KYDS, Streetwork, PCYC Hornsby, and a local Indigenous community organisation, as well as several Youth leadership training events initiated by Rotary.

Our activities are also directed at Vocational and Local Community initiatives and several International projects in Nepal, Sri Lanka, Mongolia South Africa and the Pacific islands
